Nanocomposites and polyethylene blends: two potentially synergistic strategies for HVDC insulation materials with ultra-low electrical conductivity

چکیده
Among the various requirements that high voltage direct current (HVDC) insulation materials need to satisfy, sufficiently low electrical conductivity is one of most important. The leading commercial HVDC material currently an exceptionally clean cross-linked low-density polyethylene (XLPE). Previous studies have reported DC-conductivity (LDPE) can be markedly reduced either by including a fraction high-density (HDPE) or adding small amount well dispersed, semiconducting nanofiller such as Al2O3 coated with silane. This study demonstrates combining these two strategies synergistic effect achieved, resulting in ultra-low conductivity. addition both HDPE and C8–Al2O3 nanoparticles LDPE resulted ultra-insulating nanocomposites around 500 times lower than neat at electric field 32 kV/mm 60–90 °C. new nanocomposite thus promising regarding it further optimized since blend improved independently.

The loss of energy especially in industrial and residential buildings is one of the main reasons of increased energy consumption. Improving the thermal insulation properties of materials is a fundamental method for reducing the energy losses. Polymeric foams are introduced as materials with excellent thermal insulation properties for this purpose. In the present study, a deep theoretical invest...
متن کاملConductivity of Pressboard for HVDC Insulation Systems
The cellulosic material pressboard is a key component in insulation systems for HVDC (high-voltage direct current) equipment. Pressboard compounds are considered from a chemical point of view in order to link it in a subsequent study with electric conduction processes in pressboard. For a better understanding of pressboard, its manufacturing is described and fiber geometry is evaluated by SEM (...
متن کاملThermoelectric materials by using two-dimensional materials with negative correlation between electrical and thermal conductivity
In general, in thermoelectric materials the electrical conductivity σ and thermal conductivity κ are related and thus cannot be controlled independently. Previously, to maximize the thermoelectric figure of merit in state-of-the-art materials, differences in relative scaling between σ and κ as dimensions are reduced to approach the nanoscale were utilized. Here we present an approach to thermoe...
